<b>Systemic arterial hypertension in <em>Cianorte</em> City, State of <em>Paraná</em>, Brazil</b> - DOI: 10.4025/actascihealthsci.v25i1.2302
Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the Arterial Hypertension prevalence in urban areas of Cianorte city, state of Paraná, Brazil. A cross-sectional survey was carried out from March to June in a representative sample of 411 adults aged from 20 to 69. In order to collect data and blood pressure measure, a household survey was performed, using two questionnaires: a household and an individual one. The criterion used for the definition was Joint National Committee – IV – 1988 (blood pressure ≥ 140/90mmHg). The results showed that 35,5% of the population had high blood pressure (IC 95%: 30,9% – 40,1%). Among the adults who presented high blood pressure, 53,4% were not aware of their condition, 63,2% were under treatment and only 20,9% had controlled tension levels.Downloads
