Abstract
The Basic Health Care Information System (SIAB) makes it possible to organize data generated by Family Health Teams (ESFs). This study is an evaluative research on the use of SIAB, and its objective was to analyze birth confirmations using the records on SIAB forms A and C, as well as the coverage of the newborn care program by the ESFs at three Basic Healthcare Units (UBS) in the city of Londrina, Paraná State. The studied population consisted of live births within the coverage area of the units during the first semester of 2007. The data were obtained from the Live Births Information System (SINASC) database, from SIAB forms and other documents from the units. The study variables were the use of forms A and C, medical register and “alternative record”, as well as enrollment in the newborn care program. The study observed the use of medical registers as the most used systematic form of record in the units, as well as variations in the use of form A and low use of form C. It was concluded that, in spite of the wide coverage of the newborn care program, there is still low use of SIAB, particularly form C, with widespread use of “alternative records”.Downloads
