This article is part of the research "Affective manifestations of the hospitalized elderly", developed from a multidisciplinary perspective. The work has the objective to bring up some reflection elements, to consider the question of the old age, from the life course conception and the Theory of Activity, supporting itself, especially, in the texts of Anita Néri and in the works organized by her. From a view that is distant from the common sense, about daily scenes and facts, analyzing press news, we call the attention to the ideologization of the speech on old age and the necessary confrontation between the results of the research on the subject and the uncritical concepts assimilated by society.Downloads
