‘Peasant Women Movement’: a sociopolitic strategy before the ‘cautiverios’ and crisis of civilization

Keywords: history of peasant women, political participation, emancipation, exploration, oppression, latin america.

Abstract

In this essay we will deal with the Movimento de Mulheres Camponesas (MMC) of Brazil, which since its struggle to get out of sociopolitical invisibility, presents itself as a feminist, with strong criticisms against the capitalist and patriarchal system. The reflections start with a review of the literature, highlighting four doctoral dissertations and elements of two national meetings of rural women, historical momenta of women's organization. It is taken as an important reference, the understanding of ‘cautiverios’ of the Mexican feminist Marcela Lagarde. The voice and political demands of rural women in Brazil, in Latin America and, só to speak, in all continents, belatedly emerge in history. This does not mean that they would remain hidden or that fights would not be unleashed, especially for provisions, water, land, in the end, for the defense of the rights to survive, rights in the world of work and together with it, to the vindication of citizenship and labor rights. It is understood that the CMM contributes significantly to advance in the struggle for the autonomy of women in the face of ‘cautiverios’ and the crisis of civilization. It is a concrete alternative to get the common good and human emancipation.
