Abstract

The present text deals with the establishment of parishes and dioceses in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, during and after D. Duarte Leopoldo e Silva’s archbishopric (1908-1938), in the context of Catholic Action programs which were developed after the papacy of Pius X, as a strategy to enlist laymen against modernism and communist projects.

Ivan Aparecido Manoel, UNESP

Possui mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1982) e doutorado em História Social pela Universidade de São Paulo (1988). Ex-Diretor da FAAC/Bauru e ex-Vice-Diretor da FHDSS/Franca. Atualmente é Diretor e professor adjunto da Universidade Estadual Paulista - campus de Franca/SP, Membro do corpo editorial: Revista Plures (CUML) e História Revista (UFG). Tem experiência na área de Educação, com ênfase em História da Educação, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: educação brasileira, história da igreja, conservadorismo católico, política católica e política educacional brasileira Currículo Lattes
