The sportive practice of brazilian women emphasis on poverty condition
Abstract
This study analyzed the main elements that interfere in the sports practice of Brazilian women, emphasizing the categories of gender and social class. To this end, data from the 2015 National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) were used, an edition in which there was further research on the Practice of Sport and Physical Activity. With these data, logit models were estimated - consisting of a generalized linear model that uses the logit function as a link function - in order to identify the factors that increase the chances of playing sports. It was concluded that Brazilian women have difficulties to practice sports, due to the cultural construction of the female gender in the sports field and their current position in view of the multiplicity of daily activities. It is understandable that this issue is intensified when related to the poorest women in the country, due to the lack of time and the absence of adequate spaces for the practice of sport. Thus, the condition of poverty has become a limiting element for women to practice sports in Brazil.
