The bolsonarism and the end of the world
Abstract
The warlike content of the discourse conveyed by bolsonarism has been highlighted in several approaches. In this text, I argue that this warmongering has also a self-destructive component, updating an element underlined by different analysts of radical right-wing movements. Based on speeches broadcast by bolsonarists on youtube channels of large audience, I intend to try to understand socialpsychic aspects of the ‘end of the world fantasies’ (Theodor Adorno) inherent to bolsonarism. The results indicate that authoritarian resentment arises in a neoliberal context of society, which leaves the ‘anticipation of terror’ as the only alternative for some social groups – even when it implies self-sacrifice.
