The political meaning of social movements which intend to intervene in governmental decisions concerning the allocation of public resources
Abstract
This study discusses the political and historical means of social movements which emerge from the context of national income allotment. The author resorts to political theory concerning the state-society relations and, besides, to two social movements which have taken place in Brazil. The most important topic was the subject of political representation. The article concludes that social movements, besides their limitations, raise the citizenship and, in consequence, contribute to the development of democracy.Downloads
