<b>Bourdieu and the gift
Abstract
This paper seeks to revisit the theory of the gift, however, not restricted to a reanalysis of data brought for Mauss on The Gift. We aim here to discuss the possibilities of interpretation introduced by Bourdieu's work from two aspects: a) understanding the tripartite obligation of ‘giving-receiving-return’ from the theoretical background of the French sociologist, understanding this as a predisposition socially constructed; b) the specific interpretation that the author builds on the gift in an effort to uncover its mystery, which is in line with the stance of epistemological rupture.
