Abstract

The search for methodologies for teaching cartography in the geography discipline is still a challenge to be overcome, since the lack of access to digital educational means (tablets, notebooks, desktops, etc.) or learning gaps in early grades corroborate for the student is unaware or has learning difficulties for basic concepts of geography due to non-contact with cartographic content. In this sense, are objective of this study(i) identify the main difficulties that students have with the use of terminologies Cartographic classroom and (ii) analyze the use of Google Earth software as Geography teaching methodology. The methodology was divided into three stages, (1) collection of bibliographic materials,(2) survey of primary materials, consisting of fieldwork, which were applied three question naires openly, the first-pre-workshop the second-post-workshop and the third questionnaire addressed to geography teachers and(3) step was performed in the laboratory in order to systematize and analyze the data obtained in the field, as well as processing of the results and discussions. Data analysis allows us to affirm that the use of software such as Google Earth enables the teacher to explore different ways to "teach" cartographic content inherent to the teaching of geography, as well as stimulating students' interest in learning about digital tools that enable the teaching and learning of concepts to be used by geographic science in everyday life.
