Abstract

Urbanization effects above fluvial systems are still incompletely understood. This paper aims to relate the fluvial system evolution of Água do Trajano stream to the changes in the urban area of Terra Rica - PR, between 1984 and 2010, and present a discussion drawing on comparison of the Wolman's model. By means of a database consisting of fifteen TM5 images, one HRC image and by field recognition, it was possible to identify three distinct moments of fluvial system adjustment to urban impermeabilization which have caused different erosive and depositional cycles, differently located in time and space. The area of exposed sand on the alluvial plain and the downstream reach of these deposits initially showed exponential negative adjustment curves, followed by inversely proportional according to the increase of constructed areas in the urban area of Terra Rica.
