The influence of the ukrainian people culture on the colonization process of Roncador city - PR

Abstract

This essay aims at presenting a historical rescue of the colonization process of Roncador city situated in the state of Paraná (PR), as well as to verify the contribution of the Ukrainian descendant settlers during that process. The period established for this research includes from the early 1920s to the 1970s. This paper shows a reflection on the actions of the Ukrainian descendant settlers during the process of occupation of the area focused on this research. However, due to the small amount of documentary records that discuss the occupation history of this city, a methodology that would fill such a gap was used. Therefore, oral sources were used, through oral history, which enabled us to get the information needed at the source itself, that is, through the speech of the settlers of the region who have experienced the process or who have in any way been involved in the colonization of the area evaluated. Considering that the Ukrainian settlers and their descendants had participated directly in the process of colonization of that area, they contributed greatly with the formation of a local culture. After their arrival, the settlers were united in colonies leaving marks of a millennial culture in such a geographic area.
