Abstract

Development has prioritized travel by means of city vehicles, making urban infrastructure precarious and improving pedestrian quality, worsening the lives of the population. The maintenance and engine space constrains established for the evaluation of a pedestrian must be done in order to improve walkability and generate changes that do not improve mainly to the particular vehicle. For the quality of the essentials of a walk, a study was carried out on the avenue of Feira de Santana - BA, aiming at a quantification and what is the infrastructure of this avenue, elements to be verified and later the existing city propose. of urgency in which the interventions were carried out. Following the methodology proposed by the Institute for Transport and Development Policies (ITDP) based on the iCam method, it is possible to assess walkability from 15 indicators, grouped into 06 categories that encompass the determining factors of walking: Sidewalk, Mobility, Attraction, Road Safety, Public Safety and Environment. It was found that the avenue does not present a good situation for walking in most indicators, consequently, categories. An intervention in order to improve the main problems encountered is necessary so that the locomotion of pedestrians is carried out in a pleasant, safe and efficient way. They also point to the main care that the results of new routes must have, so that the identified problems do not reproduce.
