Market territories and exclusion territories in Marabá - PA: tendency towards a fragmented socio-spatial logic?
Abstract
This work aims to understand how the recent urban dynamics of Marabá, which has undergone major transformations, due to the announcement of ALPA and the real estate market boosted by the PMCMV, provided the creation of market territories and exclusion territories, as well as comparing points of rupture between these territories that lead to socio-spatial fragmentation. The market territory can be understood as areas of the city that have a great trade interest both for real estate speculation and for the implementation of projects that attract a high-income public. The exclusion territories, on the other hand, are spaces devoid of basic infrastructure, commonly neglected by the real estate market. These different territories increase partition in the city, culminating in segregation and social-spatial fragmentation, which can be understood as a rupture between the different social groups. From the Residecial Ipiranga and Folha 35, areas chosen to represent market territories and exclusion territories, respectively, we analyze whether there is a tendency in the city towards a fragmentary regional logic.
