Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the quality of nursing prescriptions in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a University Hospital. A descriptive study with a quantitative approach was carried out with data obtained from the evaluation reports of the quality of nursing care at the studied institution. It was chosen to study the item "Development of nursing prescription" and its proof items to which the following analysis criteria were adopted: complete, incomplete, non-informed and incorrect, having as appropriate values, over 80%, below 15%, below 5% and 0%, respectively. Values ​​were shown to be below desired levels for all checked items, in particular with respect to reporting on the care according to the pathology and clinical status, and also guidelines for observation of signs and symptoms. These results allow us to infer the need for education processes regarding the application of scientific knowledge in developing an effective plan of care and quality.
