Spirituality in the interdisciplinary team that works with palliative care to cancer patients

The present study aimed to know the meaning of spirituality for the team of the Oncological Interdisciplinary Home Care Program that assists the individual with cancer in palliative care. It is a descriptive and exploratory research of qualitative approach, which used the historical-cultural referential of Vygotsky. Data were collected, in 2009, through focus group with eight professionals from the health team of the Oncological Interdisciplinary Home Care Program Home Care Program, in a town in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. From the study, two themes were obtained as a result: the meaning of spirituality in the self-construction and the meaning of spirituality in the collective construction. It is noteworthy, that during the development of research the working group was strengthened by the exchange of experiences and had the opportunity to discuss the various sides of spirituality in palliative care, reaffirming the need of its inclusion in the working process in health.Downloads
