Abstract

Nowadays the vertiginous flow of information and knowledge brought about the need for resources and tools to deal with the complexity of such data. From this perspective, we are witnessing today, the concern not only to produce knowledge, but how to manage it so that it can be easily accessed and used.With this concern some institutions have dedicated themselves to guide the collection, synthesis and transfer of data in agreement with the healthcare based on evidence, which is known to increase the efficiency, quality of health services and lower costs. Among these institutions, the Joanna Briggs Institute, based in Adelaide, Australia, has emerged as an important global leadership role. Thus, this paper aims to describe some features, methods and relevance of the contributions of the Joanna Briggs Institute for evidence-based nursing.
