Abstract

Home visit is an ancient practice in the health area that is nowadays being rescued in view of new state policies that promote higher mobility from the professional. Within this perspective, home visit can be considered as the traversal axis of the Brazilian health system that goes through the universality, integrality and equity. It can be understood as a method, a technique and an instrument. As a method, it inscribes itself within the possibilities of qualitative approaches; as a technique, it requires interaction and communication as fundaments; and, as instrument, it makes use of planning and registers. It requires full agreement from the user and the establishment of a relation which is essentially guided by dialogue and by ethics. This article, based on the literature and on the experience of the authors, proposes a concept, a method and an instrument; besides, it supports the possibilities of use of home visit as a technology for care, teaching and research on health.
