Reflections on the national humanization policy and its interfaces in nursing within a hospital setting

Abstract

The present article had as objective to reflect on the National Hospital Assistance Humanization Policy and its relation to the Nursing worker and profession. It points out, based on practical experience and backed by literature, what is viable and can be (re)constructed or (re)created so that the policy is materialized and, the health worker – in this case, the nurse – is valued and certified in these practices. A professional attitude by nursing workers is essential for the materialization of the humanization process in health care. The implementation of the Humanization Policy requires that the worker be received, cared for and educated in work conditions compatible with the philosophy of this Policy. Humanization cannot be linked only to the quality of care given, but also recognizing the subjectivity of the worker and creating possibilities for the expression of all of his/her potentialities.
