Abstract

The goal of this study was to examine the perceptions of users and employees of the Center for Psychosocial Care of the Executive Secretariat Regional IV (SER IV), in Fortaleza-Ce on mental health care. Mental health care involves aspects related to the environment, with regard to structure and accessibility, and of the relationship user-worker. This was a field test of a qualitative nature. As a tool, a semi-structured interview was used with the following guiding question: “What is, for you, mental health care?” Participated in the study ten users and ten employees of the Center for Psychosocial Care of the Executive Secretariat Regional IV, Fortaleza, Ceara. The interviews were analyzed by the technique of content analysis of categorical type, as proposed by Bardin. The results of the interviews were distributed into two categories: (1) Faces of CAPS and (2) Mental Disorder. It was observed the importance of mental health care, and the presence of affectionate relationships in the lives of CAPS participants. As for the feelings present in such relationships they highlighted: the support, the favorable reception, the proper treatment and help, thus promoting the resocialization of the bearer of mental disorder in the context of the psychosocial rehabilitation.
