Abstract

Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a pathology caused by a brain disorder that brings about abnormalities in the muscular tonus and interferes with the correct acquisition of motor skills during the child’s development period. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate and compare the functional capacity of a child with a cerebral palsy profile - left spastic hemiparesis type, before and after physiotherapy treatment by using the Bobath Neuroevolutive Concept. The Gross Motor Function Measure was used as an instrument of neuromotor evaluation. The physiotherapy treatment was based on the Bobath Neuroevolutive Concept and comprised a 25-session physiotherapy treatment. Each session lasted 50 minutes. After the treatment, one could observe gains in all dimensions evaluated according to the GMFM, such as: 17.65% in dimension A; 13.33% in dimension B; 19.05% in dimension C; 30.76% in dimension D; and 13.89% in dimension E. Thus, this study demonstrated that physiotherapy treatment contributed significantly to the improvement of the patient’s motor development.
