Breast cancer is the disease most feared by women, due to its high incidence and biopsychosocial impact. The purpose of this study was analyzing knowledge, attitudes and health and social practices of six women suffering from breast cancer. The methodological strategy was life story and reflexive interview. The results were analyzed using content analysis, thematic modality and organized in two elements of analysis: the individual history and the group history. The categories that emerged were: Fears and losses, Social and family support, and Change of values, indicating that the experience of breast cancer is a turning point in their lives, causing a whirlwind of emotions and feelings, but by facing it give them power want to live as intensely as possible, changing a set of values about life.Downloads
