Abstract
The inclusion of the oral health workers in the Family Health Strategy staff was developed in order to re-organize the oral health model regarding the principles of the Brazilian Public Health System named SUS, aiming to increase the access to oral health care and the improvement of oral health condition. The present study aimed to evaluate the advances and challenges of oral health workers in the Family Health Strategy with a Reflexive literature-review using Lilacs, Medline and BBO database. Search for evidence was performed by the keywords: family, oral health, advances, evaluation, challenge, staff, difficulties and contributions. All the articles were categorized according to Thematic Analysis. The literature had shown positive aspects as: increase of the access, better user’s related satisfaction, major coverage of promoting and preventing oral health actions. Difficulties were found to be the coverage of the listed population, reference and counter-reference and profile of the professional. It was concluded the main challenges faced by the Oral Health Workers are not exclusive of the Dentistry field, but reflect what is represented on the implementation of the Family Heath Strategy as a whole. It is necessary to understand this process as a strategy under development in parallel to the construction and consolidation of SUS.Downloads
