Abstract
This study aims to analyze the indicators of tobacco control treatment in Cambé-PR, Brazil. This is cross-sectional study, carried out with 92 smokers participating in the Tobacco Control Program in the years 2007 and 2008. The instruments used in data collection were: registration forms of the smokers and monthly accounting records of the program. Results showed that 57 (62.0%) of participants were female, aged between 40 and 59 years (50 = 54.3%). For 79 (85.9%) of them, tobacco use began between 10 and 20 years of age and 60 individuals (65.1%) presented a high level of nicotine dependence. The percentage of smokers who quit the treatment was 23.8% (15). By the fourth therapy session, the smoking cessation rate was 66.6% (32), and 83.3% (40) required medications. The knowledge of the indicators of treatment enables an evaluation of the actions that aim to control the tobacco epidemic.Downloads
