Abstract
This paper aims to deepen the study of problem solving (PS) for the understanding of pedagogical alternatives to develop this ability in students of the Nursing Integrated Curriculum of the State University of Londrina. As a research method, the Problem-based Methodology with Maguerez Arch was used. In the theorizing stage, among other sources of information, semi-structured interviews were conducted with twenty teachers of the course. The results pointed to a definition of PS involving: the meeting of user's needs; the decision-making; the systematic application of PS stages; the use of theoretical and practical knowledge and user participation in the process. The most cited educational activities for the development of PS were: discussions about the practice, Case Studies; Nursing Process; operations of Representation, Theorizing / Systematization and Synthesis, and Problem-based Methodology with Maguerez Arch. These activities were analyzed by checking if they met the political-pedagogical guidelines of the course and the problem-solving theories according to the education references. Some weaknesses in relation to such activities were detected, enabling the development of solution hypotheses that resulted in some adjustments and restatements implemented in the stage of application to reality.Downloads
