Abstract

Regarding youngsters users of crack, it becomes important to examine aspects of family structure that could motivate the use of drugs, on the grounds that this is influenced by the context in which the individual belongs. The objective is to analyze the genogram youngster crack users institutionalized in a therapeutic community. Descriptive research, carried out from May to June 2011 with male crack users, 18-24 years of age. In the period of the survey, the Community had four subjects who met the inclusion criteria. Supported by interviews on a screenplay with questions designed to obtain personal information and use of drugs, ending with the development of the genogram. The youngsters were single, had no children, had a religion, and had not completed high school education. All families were nuclear, regardless of generation. Called one attention the small number of members in the youngster’s family, in contrast to their previous generations. The research on crack use and its interface with families should be encouraged once they play a fundamental role in the prevention and treatment of drug use.
