Abstract
From the contact with the discipline of Nursing in Transmissible Diseases, a curiosity and scientific interest was developed to unveil the world of individuals with sexually contagious disease, more specifically to investigate the path of life of a homosexual. This is a descriptive study case, with qualitative approach method, using Oral History - a modern resource for the development of documents, files and studies regarding people's social life. It was inferred that the homosexual is condemned to a complex management of his own life, which is most of the times multifaceted and complex. When assuming his sexual preference, he comes across the fear to face society and relatives. Thus, he chooses self-denial and self-protection. The existential conflict of a man’s role turns the homosexual into an individual with identity crisis, for the society and his family. So, he transfers the conflictive condition of to be or not to be to the socioeconomic sphere as a way of reconciling his choice, becoming capable of generating a way of feeling unambiguous about his choice and sexual preference. In the perspective of the construction of the hegemonic manliness, the homosexuality is considered painful when one tries to live a typically heterosexual life.. Key words: Homosexuality. Sexual Behavior. Nursing Evaluation Research. Community Health Nursing. Nursing.Downloads
