Reflecting on education and nursing in the light of Paulo Freire's ideas: a possibility of a new view for the education

Abstract

This is a theoretical discussion, in the light of the ideas of Paulo Freire, on education and the work of nursing as a profession that educates/is educated. Education happens all the time, in the relation of citizens with one another, with the world and with themselves, being a historical, social, cultural and permanent process. Nurses develop an educational role, with both the clients and the health team, therefore, it is important to highlight the necessity to reflect more deeply about their formation. This is only the beginning of the path that is necessary to explore in the search for being more.

Michelle Silveira Chapacais Szewczyk, FURG
Graduada em Enfermagem pela Fundação Universidade Federal do Rio Grande - FURG (2000). Especialista em Projetos Assistenciais de Enfermagem pela Furg (2003). Mestre em Enfermagem pela FURG (2007). Atualmente é enfermeira assistencial da Fundação Universidade Federal do Rio Grande. Tem experiência na área de Enfermagem, com ênfase em Enfermagem Médico-Cirúrgica, Materno-infantil e Intensivismo.
