Abstract

This is a qualitative study that aims at knowing and understanding the concepts of families assisted by the Yellow Staff Family Health Program in Cambira city, Paraná State, in what concerns children’s health follow-up during their first year of life. Semi-direct interviews were carried out based on standard pilot instructions, and applied to 19 families. The interviews were tape-recorded, transcribed and submitted to thematic analysis on the sequence. The analysis of the testimonies given by the mothers allowed us to identify the themes and revealed that, based on their life experience; the investigated individuals acquired some knowledge on children’s health follow-up, concerning both the social and environmental contexts where they were inserted.
