Comparative study between professional nurses and others professionals on the maternal breastfeed practice

Abstract

The exclusive breastfeed till six months of live advocated by the Worldwide Health’s Organization and defined by numberless authors for the favourable effects to the child's health, it has been a reason to worry, for it is observed high contents of early wean. With the objective of discussing related to the practice of breastfeed by nurses professionals aspects, considering that they’re more prepared to this practice theoretically, a comparative study between 20 nurses and 20 professionals that didn’t receive contents about the breastfeed during their academic graduation, but they lively the breastfeed process had been done. The results showed that in spite of the nurse’s theorist-practical knowledge, acquired in the graduation, it wasn’t enough to avoid the early wean. In an opposite way, the professionals who didn’t have previous content of the breastfeed, have exceeded the nurses on exclusive duration of the breastfeed aspect. It had been conclude that the theory has been insufficient to conduct the breastfeed practice, awaking to the education in health need to mothers in breastfeed stage.
