Medication management: a safe practice?

Abstract

One of the nursing practice attributions, worthy of reflections is the medication management that involves legal and ethical aspects of impact on the professional practice. Mistakes on the medication management bring up to float the responsibility of the nursing category. When accomplishing the action in an appropriate way it facilitates the prevention of the mistake and consequently the real mistake. In this work we objectified analyzing the nursing responsibilities on the medication management by means of a bibliographical research, accomplished with the Medline and Lilacs (1997/1999) bases. The results stress out that works published on the theme are scarce and therefore an alert for the need of contemplation about a larger insertion of nursing professionals into the practice of the medication management on what is related to publications.
