Abstract
This is a study on the perceptions and knowledge of technicians in Radiology with regard to measures for the prevention and control of hospital infection used during radiological investigations. Descriptive-exploratory study, conducted at two centers of image, one public and one private, located in Fortaleza-CE. The data were collected in July and August 2006, through a semi-structured interview applied to 32 technicians in radiology. The results showed that the routine of washing hands before the procedure is greater in the private hospital and that alcohol was the most used product for cleaning the chassis. A lack of knowledge and cooperation between professional nursing and technicians in Radiology was observed in both institutions. The precariousness of personal protective equipment was more evident in the public hospital, but the ignorance on how to proceed with patient and the types of care used during radiological examinations were similar in the two hospitals. Based on the results, it is concluded that the presence of nurses at Division of Radiology is essential to develop and implement programs on actions to prevent hospital infection during radiological investigations, aiming at the quality of care.Nursing.
