Abstract
This objective of this descriptive study was to evaluate the motivation levels of youth volleyball teams, both male and female. To that end, the sample was made up of 24 volleyball players – 12 males and 12 females – between the ages of 14 and 17. As data collection methods, we used the Sports Motivation Scale and the Life Orientation Test. The results were tabulated statistically within normality, through statistical analysis. The results showed there were significant observable differences among teams, in regards to intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, as well as optimism. It can be therefore concluded, after data analysis, that the work undertaken in practice – especially by the coach – must value the individuality of each player in the team, as this was demonstrably a key factor for good athlete performance by athletes in competitive periods.Downloads
