Abstract
The study aims to characterize the socio-professional and training profile of members of Equipes de Saúde da Família (ESF), in the Northwest Region of Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, specifically the teams of 14ª Coordenadoria Regional de Saúde. It is a quantitative and descriptive case study; data collection was carried out with a questionnaire to 330 professionals. The majority of professionals are female, in productive age, married, with children, and the biggest part of them started working at ESF/PSF between the years 2000 and 2004. There is low alternation of people in the teams, which can qualify the attention, since the permanence of the teams in the communities allows the formation of bonds and encourages interaction between professionals and community. As for the training of workers, there are initiatives for the execution of courses, specializations and/or residency, which tends to reflect in primary health care, in care to the people and their families, in pursuance of health strategy and the work process. Study indicates that there is still space for qualification and instrumentalization of the professionals that are members of ESF, which can contributes to a better attention to the families and the population.Downloads
