Abstract
In order to understand the experience undergone by the patient who carries a multi-resistant (MR) bacteria, who was isolated and had contact precaution in the hospital environment a qualitative work was achieved, where eight patients who carry MR and were admitted to isolation wards of the male and female Admittance Units of the University Hospital of Londrina, were interviewed in november and december of 2008. The semi-structured interview was used for the data collection. As for the discourses analysis, the analysis frame of reference suggested by Bardin was used. Three categories arising: getting explanations about being an MR carrier and the need for isolation, expressing your perception about how an MR is transmitted and verbalizing feelings lead differentiating cares. Patients reported receiving superficial information on their multi-resistance condition, mentioning questions on the MR transmission and the need for isolation. They noticed the different procedures towards them, which were associated by the interviewees as feelings of discrimination, decrease of self-esteem and fear. It is concluded that is necessary supervise practices that can transmit MR, such as clarification the patient about the routine concerning the multi-resistance bacterial diagnosis, for his understanding and cooperation about care provided to him during the internment.Downloads
