A CORRUPÇÃO E A ECONOMIA BRASILEIRA: UMA DISCUSSÃO TEÓRICA À LUZ DAS IDEIAS DOS “INTÉRPRETES” DO BRASIL

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze a recurring theme in the Brazilian economy and society - corruption - revisiting and comparing the ideas of Brazilian interpreters, namely, Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, Gilberto Freyre and Celso Furtado. In particular, it seeks to deepen the understanding of the theme of corruption, discussing its origins and foundations, based on the seminal interpretations that marked the intellectual debate in the country. The methodology used consists of a bibliographic search based on works by the mentioned authors and their contributions that allow to explain the corruption and its persistence in the Brazilian economy and society. In the light of the sources studied, it is possible to observe that corruption negatively interferes in the development of a country and, particularly in Brazil, has a strong degree of entrenchment in individuals and institutions historically created.
