ÉLISÉE RECLUS (1830-1905): EDUCATION GEOGRAPHIC BY NATURE
Abstract
This paper analyzes the conceptions in the writings of Elisée Reclus (1830-1905) about relationship between man and nature as a key element for the construction of a proposal for Geographic Education. This is an initial analysis, focusing on a small portion of the Reclus’s writings. Therefore, some preliminary considerations are exposed in this paper, among wich the author’s criticism to the formal school and its relationship to the capitalist development, as well as propose of Reclus for Geographic Education beyond the limits of this school. For this, the author defends the mediation of nature in educational process and in a building a Geographic Education that enables to subjects the development of actions in pursuit of social emancipation.
