Abstract

The concepts of region and regionalization ground several discussions, being necessary a selection and a positioning aiming at situating each research. This way, this research has as aim to understand the geographical concept of region and regionalization, beyond doing a theoretical-methodological approach of philosophical currents influences of Neokantism, Logical Positivism, Phenomenology and Marxist in regional studies. Methodologically, this reserach was done through bibliographical studies based on authors as Sandra Lencione (2009) e Rogério Haesbaert (2010). The concept of region is not a concrete concept and its interpretation depends on each researcher who studies it. Regionalization, in its turn, is the action of building regions. The concept of region evolved epistemologically based on these philosophical perspectives.
