URBAN MOBILITY AND ACCESSIBILITY: PROCESSES AND REFLECTIONS IN THE CITY OF MONTES CLAROS-MG
Abstract
This research aims to reflect on urban mobility in terms of sidewalks as spaces for public use from an analysis of certain locations in the city of Montes Claros-MG. The methodology employed is centered on bibliographic research with an emphasis on accessibility and urban mobility, especially in the reading of NBR 9050/2004 which defines parameters and criteria related to the construction of sidewalks, in addition to the Montes Claros Master Plan, and Law No. 3,745, of June 5, 2007 that deals with the construction and maintenance of sidewalks in the municipality. Seeking to emphasize the barriers that prevent free movement of pedestrians, an observation of some sidewalks in the city was also carried out, which can be seen from the photographic record that many spaces do not obey municipal and federal standards and criteria with regard to to a properly constructed sidewalk. Urban mobility enters into the coherent use of spaces for public use, a fact that allows the population to move freely and safely.
