Abstract

In this study, I investigate the concept of multiculturalism in the curriculum, in order to situate the discipline of Geography. I start from the premise that this discipline as well as the modern school, was gestated in monocultural conditions eminently. Nowadays, when the world witnesses a perverse globalization with homogeneously tendencies, it is necessary to strengthen the critical proposals of School and the School Geography. New studies have arisen within the School Geography, waving to the incorporation of new themes and new approaches. I also discuss some of these conceptions in the Geography teaching and some pedagogical implications arising from the acknowledgedly multicultural options in the teaching work.
