THE “CONSERVATIVE MODERNIZATION” IN AGRO BRAZILIAN: TRAJECTORY, CONTRADICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVES

Abstract
This article discusses the modernization idea in rural areas, focusing on the meaning of the "Green Revolution," while conservative project of social and agrarian structures in Latin America and more especially in Brazil. The background is the discussion about the possibilities, contradictions and alternatives of this project facing the worldviews of family farming. Thus, through bibliographic data, characterized the family farm as a "concept-synthesis" (SAUER, 2010), capable of showing more general processes of ruptures and continuities in rural and national development. The purpose is to discuss, historically and culturally, ways of acting and living the social category, looking from the perspective of their values a potential for agricultural development that exceeds the capital-land binomial.Downloads
