Abstract
The Ecological-Economic Zoning was established by the National Environmental Policy for promoting sustainability and is considered a strategy for the implementation of public policies of territorial planning. This paper discusses the study of the Ecological-Economic Zoning (ZEE) in the Paraná River Basin, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Therefore, it was necessary to discuss the goals of the regional planning of the Ecological-Economic Zoning and understand how is the expansion of crops of eucalyptus and sugarcane, in the Paraná Basin, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. the methodological procedures were based on survey and combination of IBGE, the IMASUL and Geographic Information System agribusiness SIGA-MS. The results showed that in the last decade there have been changes in the landscape with the replacement of livestock for eucalyptus and sugarcane. It was therefore possible to understand how is the expansion of eucalyptus crops and sugarcane, in the Paraná Basin, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. In this process of expansion did not cause a conflict with what determines the ZEE- MS performed for the area. It was observed that the expansion of eucalyptus and sugarcane is occurring on areas of preferentially degraded pastures, as orients the ZEE-MS, as well as other agricultural commodities, without the immediate need for conversion of new areas.Downloads
