THE URBAN SPACE AS LÓCUS FOR LEISURE

Abstract

The article compiles part the master's thesis that focused on nighttime leisure in an avenue located in central region Maringá city, Paraná, thought from the appropriation of space. The concept of leisure is complex, and its analysis runs through several areas of knowledge. Among the investigative possibilities contained in the theme of leisure is its interactivity with urban space. From this perspective, this article was elaborated aiming to highlight the urban space as an articulator between the actions and practices developed by the subject through humanized leisure. The results point to a greater use of the squares, being appropriate, including, for leisure practice, with activities developed by free choice and unrelated to excessive consumption, stimulating play, creativity, leisure and interaction between different groups, besides evidencing the need to think about a geographical education for leisure.
