Abstract
The article analyzes how the term and practices of family farming recover and synthesize a whole trajectory of socio-cultural diversity and political struggles, not closing in a watertight concept or uniform legal category. The objective is to discuss how legal concepts relate to the broader field of land struggles - as a place of life and work - in the cut of the land grab. Through bibliographic research, the challenges and methodological problems of conceptualizing family farming are based on technical and legal data from some countries in the region, especially Brazil and Colombia. For that, the internationalization of land is briefly defined. Next, the complexity of the concept of family agriculture is discussed as part of the challenge of understanding more comprehensively the individuals who suffer and struggle against the land grab.Downloads
