ABSTRACT
This research had as its object of studies and primary source the National Common Curricular Base (2017), whose objective was to analyze the proposal of this document for the teaching of Geography in the initial grades of Elementary School, in order to identify what are the possible implications of the intended formation , from the guidelines for teaching this discipline, to man as a historical and social subject. It sought to answer the following problems: Why and Why teach Geography? What do the Common Curricular National Base for Elementary Education I propose, especially in the field of competences, skills and assessments for teaching Geography? Does this proposal aim at human formation or pseudoformation ?. As a methodology, the technique of bibliographic and documentary research was used. The theoretical assumption, part of the proposal that understands education as a dialectical process, which combines the desires and needs of the concrete, real and historically situated man, which can be a possible instrument of social transformation, whose school objective is configured in promoting man , that is, making it reach increasingly complex levels making it capable of critically intervening in society, expanding autonomy, communication and collaboration between them. Given this, it was necessary to analyze what the theoretical support of geography teaching proposed at BNCC, given that its elaboration aims to guide the curricula of basic education of educational institutions in the country.
