Abstract
This paper’s main theme revolves around the technological conditions of Paraná State Schools before the pandemic, as well as how Geography teachers have accepted this new reality and how students from Elementary School and High School were incorporated into the Remote Teaching process that has been implemented by the State Education Department during the pandemic. For this analysis, questionnaires were handed out to managers, teachers, and students from six (6) schools in the city of Maringá that have been selected for the research; their different economic and social aspects have been considered, as well as their location inside the city’s urban setting. Our aim was to diagnose the current educational context of schools concerning the use of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (TDIC), as well as to conduct a survey of their local conditions (access to the Internet, computers, technological and media equipment) and enumerate the adhesion/participation of students in the remote education process. Furthermore, this research sought to identify the public policies pertaining to the implementation of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (TDIC) in schools, discussing their relationship with the intensification of these technologies associated with the spread of the pandemic and the suspension of conventional classes.
