ORDENAMENTO TERRITORIAL DA POLÍTICA DE ASSISTÊNCIA SOCIAL EM APARECIDA DE GOIÂNIA - GO
Abstract
This study compared spatial concentration of families living in extreme poverty in Aparecida de Goiânia with the location of social assistance facilities, aiming to identify if such facilities, fundamental in the implementation of the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS), are located in areas with the highest number of people in vulnerable situations. Official data from the Single Registry and the Municipal Government of Aparecida de Goiânia were used, integrated into a geographic information system (GIS) software. After generating maps, it was identified that areas with more social facilities coincide with areas with a high concentration of families in extreme poverty. However, areas with a much higher concentration of families living in extreme poverty do not have social assistance facilities, reinforcing their social vulnerability. It was not possible to establish a causal relationship between the presence or absence of social assistance facilities and the concentration of families living in extreme poverty, as data for different dates were not available, preventing a temporal analysis of the issue. It is concluded that the planning of the locations for social assistance equipment installation should be based on studies of the concentration of families living in extreme poverty.
