Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The article is not being assessed by another journal.
  • COPE´ s Guidelines, available at http://publicationethics.org were consulted and are regarded by the authorship while preparing and submitting the article to the Journal of Physical Education.
  • The submission strictly follows all the rules required by the authors´ guidelines.
  • The authors used the template available in authors´ guidelines to prepare the submission file.
  • The submissions file has .doc or .docx extensions.
  • All metadata (both text and authorship information) were in detail filled up in the Journal System both in English and Portuguese.
  • References are arranged in numerical order, according to the order in which they are first mentioned in the text, according to the Vancouver style (http://www.icmje.org/index.html).

Author Guidelines

Language Policy

The Journal of Physical Education publishes articles in English and welcomes submissions in Portuguese and Spanish as well. Authors submitting in Portuguese or Spanish must provide an English translation upon acceptance during the editing process.

CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) Statement

The Journal of Physical Education utilizes CRediT, the Contributor Roles Taxonomy, to acknowledge the contributions of each author. Authors should assign one or more roles from the 14 categories described here while submitting the manuscript in the Comment to Editor box. Submissions without this information will undergo desk review.

Formatting the Manuscript

All articles submitted to the Journal of Physical Education must adhere to the journal's established formatting guidelines, available in the journal's template here (in Portuguese) and here (in English) downloadable as a Word file. Failure to comply will result in desk review.

Published Articles Sections

Below are definitions and file size limits for each document type, including abstracts, authorship information, and bibliographic references:

  • Original articles: up to 7000 words
  • Review articles: up to 9000 words
  • Opinion articles: up to 9000 words
  • Reviews: up to 10000 words
  • Documents: no size limit
  • Interviews: no size limit
  • Thematic Dossiers: same limits as above document types apply

Bibliographic References

Bibliographic references should be organized numerically, corresponding to their first mention in the text, and formatted according to the Vancouver style (http://www.icmje.org/index.html). Journal titles should be abbreviated as per the Medical Index (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog/journals). Documents to be Uploaded to Complete the Submission

  1. Manuscript file following all guidelines with authorship information (names, institutional affiliation, ORCIDs, corresponding author)
  2. Manuscript file following all guidelines but completely anonymized
  3. Scielo Open Science Compliance Form

In the absence of any of these documents, the submission will be archived.
