Abstract
The purpose of this study was to detect differences in kinematic and kinetic variables of gait of children aged 5-10 years old when normalized by mass and stature. Gait data of 28 healthy children (5-6 year-old, 7-8 year-old and 9-10 year-old) were recorded using four synchronized video cameras and two AMTI force plate (Peak Motus System). An one-way ANOVA test was used to assess gait differences (p<0.05) among age groups. There are no significant differences between groups for normalized spatio-temporal parameters. Differences were found between 5-6 year-old group when compared to the other two groups for all variables. There were less significant differences between groups when mass and stature are used to normalize joint moments when compared to normalization using only mass.Downloads
