Association between overweight and obesity with cardiovascular risk factors in employees of a health insurance company
Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of overweight and obesity and their associations with cardiovascular risk factors in employees of a health insurance company of Maringá city. One hundred fourty eight employees were evaluated, being 57 female and 91 male, from 15 to 47 years old. Information was gathered concerning the socioeconomic profile, health habits, antropometric data and blood presure. The prevalences in the study were as follows: sedentary lifestyle, 59%; overweight and obesity, 31%; abdominal obesity, 12,75%; hypertension, 19% and familial history, 66%. It was also observed that the association of several cardiovascular risk factors, being more evident the relation of the corporal adiposity in the development of the hypertension. Since it was a population of young adults, the frequency of risk factors identified points to the necessity of the adoption of prevention and therapeutical writs for the employees of this company.Downloads
